The copy_file function in these two scripts currently creates a backup of the source file before overwriting the destination file. This makes no sense at all since it's the destination file that gets overwritten in the process, the source file is not altered. This should be changed to create a backup copy of the destionation file instead. Perhaps the backup creation could also be made optional.
